Surprisingly in early 2025, BMW/MINI started supplying the gear selector as a stand-alone unit.  This reduced the price somewhat, though is still a more expensive option.  I've always been completely transparent about this repair, so here at the two options compared side-by-side.  If you still can't decide then give me a call and I'll help you with the decision.

Price of the repair

It is all on the online booking form.  Everyone will pay the same price, regardless of vehicle but customers often have many questions and always say that having spoken to me fully understand the process.  I'm a great believer in talking to people and reassuring them that they've found the UK's premier repairer of this issue.

I have to remove components which if broken cost hundreds of pounds to replace - I've even created special tooling to minimise the chance of such breakages!  Some of the components removed, cannot be purchased from BMW/MINI individually so it is imperative that nothing is damaged during the repair process.  Keep this in mind if trying the repair yourself or you plan on trusting somebody less experienced ... breaking these components will end up costing you at least three times what I charge.

I also have spare gearshifts, components to repair your gearshift including the printed circuit board inside the gearshift and in over 400 repairs, and over 3 years in offering this service, every customer has driven away with a repaired vehicle.

And of course, all work carries a 2 year warranty so long as the warranty seal I apply is not broken.
